Edsel Breland, FAIBD, is president of Breland & Farmer Designers,
which he founded in 1973 in Jackson, Mississippi. The energy crisis that followed shortly afterward etched a permanent
reminder into the company's design philosophy to design homes that are very energy efficient. Breland & Farmer,
working with government agencies and private industry, designed the prototypes that have become the models for energy
efficient home design.
A native of the deep south, Breland draws on the heritage of the area to create home designs that offer the comfort and
nostalgia of the past with the efficiency and convenience of the future. Each plan is carefully designed to make maximum
use of the floor space, arranged for today's lifestyles, and then wrapped in a facade that is comforting to come home to.
Working drawings are created to perfection to ensure ease of construction. Every drawing is clear, precise, and easy to
read. However, when there are questions, Breland personally provides technical support on each and every plan.
Breland helped to organize and charter the Mississippi Society of The American Institute of Building Design, and served as
the first president for two years. Afterward he served as the Eastern Director, Treasurer, and Vice President for the
National AIBD Executive Committee. Breland has also served in various positions with the Home Builders Association. |
